About Us
Our School
Tosh & Associates School of Real Estate Appraisals provides college level accredited appraisal courses in the State of California. We provide continuing education as well as basic education including USPAP courses. The school also has numerous on-line courses available in many states with more being approved every day. The on-line virtual university provides courses for appraisers, real estate agents/brokers, mortgage, escrow and title insurance throughout the United States. We are scheduling on-site courses each year at locations up and down the state (primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area), which will accommodate larger groups View our upcoming on-site courses.
Courses are added on an on-going basis as the need arises. We also teach courses in Northern California at our facilities in Brentwood (Contra Costa County) with a maximum enrollment of 12 students. We are available to teach at private offices throughout California at a discounted rate per student if the location is provided. Contact us for pricing based on location and attendance.
Our Founder
Dan Tosh has been an appraiser since 1974 and founded Tosh & Associates in 1985. Dr. Tosh is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser with the State of California. He became a certified general appraiser in 1990 and was the 2nd person in Northern California to take the first State exam. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Canterbury University, Fully accredited; a Ph.D. from Cranston University, not fully accredited; and a JD from Novus University School of Law, fully accredited. He is an AQB Certified Instructor and has a Master Senior Appraiser designation (MSA) with the National Association of Master Appraisers.
Among his many experiences, he was a contract auditor for FSLIC, an underwriter, vice chairman of a Savings & Loan, an executive vice president of a bank, a vice president of secondary marketing, a chief appraiser for two different mortgage companies, a high school teacher, a member of the US Services League and a Marine Corps Vietnam veteran.
Dr. Tosh has written several appraisal courses and has co-authored an ethics course with the TAFAC Vice Chairman. He recently authored a book published by Allied Publishing titled "Residential Market Analysis & Highest and Best Use."
